Converting Fractions to Percent

To change a fraction to a percent, divide the numerator (the top number) of the fraction by the denominator (the bottom number), and then multiply the result by 100%. For instance, to convert the fraction 3/4 to a percent, you would divide 3 by 4 to get 0.75, and then multiply that number by 100% to get 75%.

Here is the general formula to convert a fraction to a percent:

Percent = (Numerator / Denominator) * 100%

As an example, to convert the fraction 7/8 to a percent, use the formula like this:

Percent = (7 / 8) * 100% = 87.5%

You can also use this formula to convert mixed numbers (numbers that have both a whole number and a fractional part) to percents. For example, to convert the mixed number 1 3/4 to a percent, you would first convert the fraction 3/4 to a decimal, and then add that decimal to the whole number part of the mixed number. In this case, the decimal equivalent of 3/4 is 0.75, so the mixed number 1 3/4 is equivalent to 1 + 0.75 = 1.75. To convert 1.75 to a percent, you would multiply it by 100% to get 175%.

It is vital to note that the resulting percent will always be a decimal, even if the fraction you started with was a simplified fraction (one that cannot be lessened any further). For instance, the fraction 1/2 is simplified, but when you convert it to a percent, the result is 50%, which is a decimal.
